Privacy policy
Effective 24 August 2026. Last updated 24 August 2026.
Text Macro (“Text Macro,” “we,” “us”) is operated by Aviator Software LLC, 2 Shaw Alley, San Francisco, CA 94105. This policy explains what we collect when you text with Text Macro at (650) 505-2556 or visit textmacro.ai, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Questions: privacy@textmacro.ai.
1. The short version
- Text Macro is a text-message nutrition coach. To do its job, it stores your conversation with it — including the text of your messages and any food photos you send.
- We use your phone number as your account identifier. We do not have accounts, passwords, or an app.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising.
- We never share your mobile phone number, or the fact that you opted in to text messages, with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We send your messages and photos to an AI model provider so the coach can respond. We use analytics tools, but we deliberately keep your name, phone number, message text, and photos out of them.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing privacy@textmacro.ai.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us by texting
- Your mobile phone number. This is how we identify your account.
- The content of your messages, in both directions. We store the full text of what you send and what Text Macro replies, so the coach has memory and history.
- Photos and other media you send (for example, pictures of meals).
- Health and body information you choose to share, because it is what the service is for: your name or nickname, age or birth year, biological sex, height, current and goal weight, activity level, nutrition goals and targets, meals and food items with estimated calories and macronutrients, weight entries over time, and other notes you give it — which may include dietary restrictions, allergies, food preferences, and reminders you ask for.
- Your time zone and unit preferences.
We do not ask for, and ask that you do not send, government ID numbers, financial account numbers, or precise location.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Message metadata: timestamps, direction, delivery status, and message size and processing measurements used for cost and abuse controls.
- Website usage: pages viewed, referring URL, campaign parameters (such as
utm_*,gclid,fbclid), approximate device and browser information, and a session recording of your visit to our marketing site. - Advertising identifiers. Our marketing site loads the Meta Pixel, the TikTok Pixel, and the Google tag, which set cookies (
_fbp,_fbc,_ttp,ttclid,_ga). We store those identifiers with your visit so that, if you go on to sign up, we can report the sign-up to Meta, TikTok, and Google for advertising measurement (see Section 5.1). - A hashed form of your IP address. When you visit our site we store a one-way hash of your IP address for abuse prevention and to link a website visit to a later text; we do not retain the raw IP address in our database.
- A referral cookie. If you arrive through a creator or partner link, we set a first-party cookie (
tm_ref, 30 days) so we can credit that partner.
2.3 Information from others
If someone refers you, we record that a referral occurred and who referred you, so we can attribute it.
3. How we use information
- To operate the coach: understand your messages and photos, estimate nutrition, track meals and weights, remember context, and reply to you.
- To send you the check-ins and reminders you ask for.
- To improve the product: measure whether features work, diagnose errors, and understand aggregate usage.
- To protect the service: rate limits, abuse detection, and blocking.
- To measure marketing: understand which channels and partners bring people to Text Macro.
- To communicate with you about the service, including support and material changes.
We do not use your message content or photos to train our own AI models.
4. AI processing
Text Macro is powered by large language models. To generate a reply, we send the relevant parts of your conversation — including message text and any photos you send — to our AI model provider. Photos are resized and converted before being sent.
Our current providers are listed in Section 6. We select providers that contractually process this data on our behalf and, under their standard API terms, do not use it to train their models. Provider terms can change; we will update this policy if our providers or their commitments change materially.
5. How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We share a narrow set of information with Meta, TikTok, and Google for advertising measurement, described in Section 5.1, and you can opt out of that at any time. We never share your health, body, nutrition, or message content with anyone for advertising, and we do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
Beyond that, we share information only:
- With service providers (“subprocessors”) who process it on our behalf, listed in Section 6.
- For legal reasons, if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of a person or of Aviator Software LLC.
- In a business transfer, if Aviator Software LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets — in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your direction, if you ask us to.
We do not share your mobile number, your texting opt-in, or your message content with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. The only use of your number beyond operating the service is the hashed advertising-measurement report in Section 5.1, which you can opt out of. Information sharing with the subprocessors in Section 6 is limited to what is needed to operate the service, and those parties are prohibited from using it for their own purposes.
5.1 Advertising measurement
To understand which ads bring people to Text Macro, we report two conversion events to Meta (Facebook/Instagram), TikTok, and Google: that a sign-up happened, and that onboarding was completed. With each event we send a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your phone number, the advertising cookie identifiers from your visit to our site (if you came from the site), a pseudonymous account identifier, and coarse context such as the acquisition channel and partner code. We do not send your name, your health, body, or nutrition information, or any message content. Meta, TikTok, and Google use this data to match the conversion to an ad you may have seen and to measure and improve ad delivery, under their own privacy policies.
Under some state laws (including the CPRA) this may count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, email privacy@textmacro.ai from, or referencing, your Text Macro phone number, and we will stop reporting conversion events for your account. You can also limit ad measurement in your Meta, TikTok, and Google account settings.
6. Service providers
| Provider | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Linq | Delivers and receives our text messages (iMessage/SMS) | Your phone number, message content, media |
| OpenRouter, routing to the model provider named in our current configuration (an OpenAI model) | Generates the coach’s replies | Message content and photos you send, plus profile and nutrition context |
| Anthropic (configured as an alternate provider; used only if we switch models) | Same as above | Same as above |
| Cloudflare | Hosting, database, file storage, image processing, and our AI fallback model | All stored data, hosted in Cloudflare’s infrastructure |
| PostHog (US) | Product and website analytics, including session replay on our marketing site | Pseudonymous user ID and event names only — not your name, phone number, message content, or photos. On the marketing site, browsing behavior. |
| Google (Analytics 4 / Ads) | Website analytics and ad measurement | Website browsing behavior; on sign-up and onboarding completion, a conversion event with the Google cookie identifier and a pseudonymous account identifier (Section 5.1) — no message content |
| TikTok (TikTok Pixel and Events API) | Ad measurement for TikTok | Website browsing behavior on our marketing site; on sign-up and onboarding completion, a conversion event with a one-way hash of your phone number, the TikTok cookie identifiers, and a pseudonymous account identifier (Section 5.1) — no health data, no message content |
| Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel and Conversions API) | Ad measurement for Facebook and Instagram | Website browsing behavior on our marketing site; on sign-up and onboarding completion, a conversion event with a one-way hash of your phone number, the Meta cookie identifiers, and a pseudonymous account identifier (Section 5.1) — no health data, no message content |
| Firecrawl | Looks up public restaurant menu and nutrition information | Search queries generated by the coach about food items — not your identity |
We may add or change providers; we will keep this list current.
7. Retention and deletion
We keep your account information, conversation history, meals, weights, and goals for as long as your account is active, so the coach has history to work with.
Photos: meal photos you send are stored for as long as your account is active, so the coach can refer back to them. They are deleted when you delete your account.
Deleting your data: email privacy@textmacro.ai from, or referencing, your Text Macro phone number and ask us to delete your account. We will delete your conversation history, meals, weights, goals, notes, and photos. We may retain limited records where we are required to by law, and aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify you.
Getting a copy of your data: email privacy@textmacro.ai and we will provide an export.
8. Text messaging, consent, and opting out
By texting Text Macro, you consent to receive text messages from us at that number, including automated messages and the check-ins and reminders you set up. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply.
- To stop messages, reply STOP at any time, or tell the coach to stop messaging you. You will receive a confirmation and we will not send further messages except as needed to confirm your opt-out.
- For help, reply HELP or email hello@textmacro.ai.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
If you use Text Macro over iMessage, Apple also processes your messages under Apple’s own terms and privacy policy.
9. Group chats
If you add Text Macro to a group chat, other participants can see what you and the coach say in that chat. Do not share information in a group chat that you want kept private.
10. Your privacy rights
California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; to request deletion; to request correction; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information. The advertising-measurement reporting in Section 5.1 may be “sharing” as defined under the CPRA; you can opt out by emailing privacy@textmacro.ai (Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information). We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.
The health, body, and nutrition information described in Section 2.1 may be considered sensitive personal information. We use it only to provide the service you asked for and for the purposes listed in Section 3 — never to infer characteristics about you for advertising.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@textmacro.ai. We will verify your request by confirming control of the phone number associated with the account. You may use an authorized agent.
Other states
If you live in a state with a comprehensive privacy law (for example Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, or Oregon), you may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your data, and to appeal a denial. Use the same contact address.
11. Children
Text Macro is intended for people 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not knowingly direct the service to anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, email privacy@textmacro.ai and we will delete it.
12. Security
We store data in Cloudflare’s infrastructure with access limited to a small number of people who need it to operate and support the service. Support staff can view conversation transcripts in an internal, password-protected tool in order to help you and debug problems. Text messages themselves travel over carrier and Apple networks and are not end-to-end encrypted between you and us. No system is perfectly secure.
13. Where we operate
Text Macro is offered in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States. We do not currently offer the service to residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
14. Not medical advice
Text Macro provides general nutrition and fitness information. It is not a medical device, not a healthcare provider, and not covered by HIPAA. We are not your doctor. See our Terms of Service for more.
15. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by text or on our website.
